Client:
Damilola Taylor Trust
Damilola Taylor, a young Nigerian boy, was just 10 years old when he said “I will travel far and wide to choose my destiny to remould the world. I know it is my destiny to defend the world which I hope to achieve in my lifetime.”
Damilola died horrifically in Peckham on 27th November 2000 leaving his family distraught. His father, Richard Taylor, set up the Damilola Taylor Trust to offer workable solutions to prevent the perpetration of violence among young adults. Although Damilola never managed to fulfil his destiny during his lifetime, his memory will continue.
Brief:
1) To produce a contemporary logo whilst keeping the image of Damilola alive
2) To produce sympathetically themed material for the Trust
Blade PR Input:
1) Blade PR produced a three armed logo representing friendship, trust and helping each other. The words incorporated into the logo (Hope, Life and Opportunity) were requested by Richard & Gloria (Damilola’s parents).
2) Flying doves were introduced to the Trust’s informational material symbolising ‘Doves of Peace’. Doves were also released at Damilola’s funeral and represented ‘A New Horizon’.
The input of Blade PR into this project has helped communicate strong messages about the work done by the Trust through the symbolic visuals and words used within the organisation’s materials.
